The Ottawa Senators have announced their schedule for the 2026-27 National Hockey League regular season. The team will begin their campaign on the road before returning to the Canadian Tire Centre for their home opener.
The Senators are set to start their regular season against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena on Saturday, October 3. This marks the ninth time in the team’s history that they will open their regular season against their provincial rivals. Following this, the Senators will continue their road trip with games in Boston and Detroit.
The Senators‘ home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, October 8, at the Canadian Tire Centre, where they will host the Philadelphia Flyers. Tickets for this game will be available for purchase starting at 1 p.m. for season seat members, followed by Sens Insiders at 2 p.m., and the general public at 3 p.m.
Season Highlights and Key Matchups
For the first time since the 1993-94 season, NHL teams will play a total of 84 regular-season games. The Senators will play in 30 of the league’s other 31 cities. Among the notable matchups, the Senators will face the Chicago Blackhawks twice on neutral ice in Düsseldorf, Germany, as part of the NHL Global Series.
A significant game for fans will be on Wednesday, October 21, when the Florida Panthers visit Ottawa, marking the first time the Senators will face their former captain, Brady Tkachuk. The team will also play their Atlantic Division rivals—Boston, Buffalo, Detroit, Florida, Montreal, Tampa Bay, and Toronto—four times each.
The Toronto Maple Leafs will visit the Canadian Tire Centre twice, on Wednesday, January 20, and Saturday, February 13. The Montreal Canadiens are also scheduled for two visits to Ottawa, on Saturday, March 13, and Saturday, April 10. The reigning Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes will be in Ottawa on Monday, January 25, while the Western Conference champion Vegas Golden Knights will visit on Thursday, December 10.
The Senators will have 14 sets of back-to-back games, the same number as the previous season. In the 2025-26 season, they recorded an 8-5-1 record in the first half of consecutive games and a 9-3-2 record in the second half. The team’s longest home stand will be six games at the Canadian Tire Centre, running from Wednesday, January 20, to Tuesday, February 9.
Additionally, the Senators will have four separate stretches of five consecutive road games, with the first beginning on Tuesday, October 27, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The team will observe a bye week from Sunday, January 31, through Monday, February 8. The 2027 NHL All-Star Weekend is scheduled to take place at the UBS Arena in Elmont, N.Y., from February 5 through 7.
Upcoming Season Details
The NHL is set to kick off its regular season on Tuesday, September 29, with the Carolina Hurricanes hosting the Florida Panthers. This early start to the season will feature five games on opening night, including the Leafs hosting the Habs, the Boston Bruins hosting the New York Rangers, the Edmonton Oilers hosting the Vancouver Canucks, and the Vegas Golden Knights playing the Chicago Blackhawks.
The day after the season opener will include two Stanley Cup Playoff Round 1 rematches: the Flyers hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Colorado Avalanche hosting the Los Angeles Kings. The Senators will not play during the first two days of the regular season, making Thursday, October 1, a potential date for their first game.
The Senators‘ 34th regular season will conclude on Saturday, April 10, when the Montreal Canadiens visit the Canadian Tire Centre.
