Former NFL Player Jordan Devey Dies
Jordan Devey, a former NFL offensive lineman who played for five teams over an eight-year career, has died at 38 years old. His family indicated that he died by suicide. His parents shared with a reporter that they believe Devey suffered from CTE.
Devey’s wife, Linsey, posted on Instagram, noting that the day would have marked their 15th wedding anniversary. She described their life together as filled with memories, joys, struggles, and triumphs, and mentioned their four children. She referred to Devey as their hero and expressed the family’s deep sorrow and love, recalling his last words to her, “we’ll talk soon.”
Career Highlights and Community Impact
Devey began his NFL journey in 2013 after going undrafted out of Memphis. He initially signed with the Baltimore Ravens but was later released. He then joined the New England Patriots‘ roster in 2013 and 2014. During his time with the Patriots, he played in six regular-season games in 2014, a season that culminated in the team winning Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks. He earned a Super Bowl ring that year.
Following his tenure with the Patriots, Devey was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in August 2015. After being waived the subsequent offseason, he was picked up by the Kansas City Chiefs. He spent parts of three seasons with the Chiefs before concluding his professional career with stints on the Las Vegas Raiders in 2019 and the Buffalo Bills in 2020. Across his career, Devey appeared in 44 regular-season games, starting in 21 of them.
Earlier this year, Devey was announced as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for Eagle High School in Eagle, Idaho. The Eagle High School football program shared an Instagram post recognizing Devey’s significant impact.
