Just two weeks before his death, Webb suffered a head injury during a game of pickleball, which ultimately led to his removal from life support. This tragic turn of events has left a significant void in the cheerleading community.
His influence extended beyond cheerleading as he was also a mentor to prominent figures like Charlie Kirk and played a crucial role in the conservative movement. Webb’s leadership was instrumental in the International Olympic Committee granting provisional recognition to cheerleading in July 2021.

In 2011, Webb sold Varsity Spirit to Herff Jones, becoming the CEO and president of the combined entity. His financial acumen was evident when Varsity was acquired by Charlesbank Capital Partners for $1.5 billion in 2014, from which he reportedly made $34.8 million.
Webb officially cut all ties with Varsity in December 2020, stating, “I’m leaving Varsity Spirit, but I’m not leaving cheerleading.” This declaration underscored his enduring commitment to the sport he helped elevate.
